Pinot Noir is still a relatively new variety for the Orange region, but it is showing excellent promise in this cool, mountainous, continental climate.
Koomooloo Vineyard’s pinot noir was planted in 1990 and 1995, on a southerly aspect producing high altitude, elegant characteristics. The vineyard has a mixture of seven clones. The shoots are bunch thinned resulting in a crop at harvest of five to six tonnes per hectare. To achieve the light, bright fruit style and savoury tannins, picking is carried out between 12-12.5 baumé
